Of course, as soon as we decided we were going to Lisbon I began to research afternoons tea options (have you seen my afternoon teas around the world page?)and when I set eyes on The four seasons Lisbon I was sold immediately. It certainly stood among the others promising a beautiful setting and cakes to die for. Served in the Almada Negreiros on the most sumptuous velvet sofas, it was no less impressive in reality. In fact it exceeded expectations. Just look at those orchids and twinkling chandeliers There are three Afternoon Teas too choose from. For the traditionalists, the Lisbon Afternoon Tea filled with typical Portuguese flavours, a journey through the county’s sweet treats; for the creative ones, the Almada Negreiros Afternoon Tea and for the fashionistas, the Four Seasons Ritz Afternoon Tea We sipped on Champagne while we decided which of the gorgeous menus to choose from (and I tried to work out who was responsible for keeping all of those amazing orchids alive so I could steal some tips) The tea itself is quite the show stopper. Served from gleaming silver teapots and poured into the finest china, the tea list features more than twenty kinds of premium loose-teas and infusions from all over the world, including tea from the Azores from the oldest and currently only tea plantation in Europe, a selection of white teas from Mount Fuji, green tea, matcha and sencha, traditional black and oolong tea The hubb's decided it was only fair and proper that he try the traditional Portuguese tea, while I choose the Almada Negreiros Afternoon Tea. And after all, we can share a little of each others too Each course was incredible. The most delicious little bites of savoury heaven in the from of tea sandwiches followed by mini Portuguese custard tarts, pastéis de feijão (bean tarts) and queijadas de Sintra (cheese and almond tarts) And of course there were the macarons. Crisp yet chewy in assorted flavors, along with creamy éclairs with their classic French choux dough and decorated with gold leaf Almost too beautiful to eat. Almost
