Attending the wedding of a loved one is a privilege. However, that doesn't mean that it’s always a pleasure. Although your wedding day should be about you and your partner, you’re going to want your guests to have a great time too. After all, if your nearest and dearest aren’t happy, it’s going to be tough for you to be. Plus, no couple wants to see their guests yawning and checking their watches every few minutes. Here are six ways to make sure that your wedding isn't boring.
Make Time For Introductions A wedding means the coming together of two families and several sets of friends. While this has the potential to be quite fun, it won’t be if everyone stands around all night barely speaking to one another. To get the awkwardness out of the way, you should invite guests to a welcome party or rehearsal dinner before the big day. This will break the ice and allow you to make introductions. Stick To Your Schedule Although none of us want to admit it, there is a chance that something will go wrong on your wedding day. That being said, wherever possible, you should try to stick to your schedule. This way, you won’t have guests stood around with nothing to do. If you have activities that don’t involve all of your guests, like photographs, then plan something to occupy everyone else. Plan The Seating Carefully There’s nothing worse than being the only guest at the table that knows none of the others, especially when you can see your group of friends laughing it up only a few tables away. While it can be fun to mix up the groups a little, it can also backfire massively, leaving everyone uncomfortable. To be safe, make sure you seat your guests with people they like and get on with. Keep The Toasts Short It’s lovely to hear well wishes and words of encouragement on your wedding day, but you don’t need to sit through hours of them. Unless your friends and family are all stand-up comedians, toasts can quickly go from touching to excruciatingly boring. Because of this, you should limit the number of toasts you allow to only a few guests. You should also keep them quite short. Offer Plenty Of Entertainment Expectations for entertainment are always quite high for weddings, even those that are quite simple. Because of this, you’ll want to put some thought into planning activities that will truly wow your guests. From a magician to a photo booth, there are plenty of ideas for you to consider. You’ll also need music to dance to, so ensure you take your time hunting for the perfect band. Get Guests Home Safely One thing always guaranteed to liven up a party is alcohol. Unfortunately, if your guests have to make their own way home, they may not be able to have the drink or two that they want. With that in mind, you should arrange taxis, cars, or a shuttle service for your friends and family. You could even book hotel rooms at your venue. This way, guests needn’t worry about getting home. No one wants a boring wedding, so make sure that yours is fun by following the tips above.
