Everyone dreams of enjoying a nice vacation even if it is just for a short time. If leaving the city and going on a road trip is not an option, then consider a respite right in your own city. Everyone could use a little bit of respite every now and then. You could be tired from working all day only to come home to a messy house and screaming children. You might have been stressed out lately because of work. Or maybe you just need to relax and unwind after a major life event. You may find yourself dreaming about escaping and asking just how much does a private jet cost to rent? But what can you do if you are stuck in your city? The good news is, there are sneaky ways you can take a short vacation right at the comforts of your city. It may seem unlikely, but once you get to try it, you will surely want to do this every chance you get. Here's how. Try to Let Go of the Guilt Many people feel guilty of wanting and actually needing to take a break from their crazy life. This is especially true among individuals who are the breadwinners of their families. They have this actual belief that they can't afford a vacation but not just because of money matters. They think their loved ones have big expectations from them. Others can't even afford to think about a break because they always think they need to be always productive. To help you let go of the guilt, think about the benefits that resting for a short while can give to you. You will feel physically and mentally healthier and have a more positive outlook in life. You will feel less stressed and ready to take on new challenges. You can feel productive for engaging in relaxing and feel-good activities that requires mindful thinking. You can also feel less guilty if you take a break with your favorite people in the world. This can be your spouse, kids, best friend, your parents, or that new found friend you have for a colleague. You can also challenge your thoughts by writing down why you feel guilty and justify why you deserve this break this week. Find Somewhere Else You Can Stay in for the Night Sometimes, it is not enough that you leave the house and try to take a break only to return to it when the night falls. You can turn this into a real short vacation by finding some other place to sleep. For instance, you can consider a sleepover at your best friend's house or visit your aging parents and enjoy your old room. If you are feeling fancy, why not try out that local hotel you've wanted to see? For instance, if you live or work in the gorgeous city of Singapore, why not try a hotel near Changi Airport? You can choose a smartly designed room that won't hurt your budget. Take your spouse, kids, or friend with you and get to enjoy their world-class accommodations, and forget that you did not even leave the city. Plan Your Day Exploring the City Many people are guilty of not even knowing what their city has to offer. Have you tried visiting every tourist destination here? You may have been staying in your city for a while. But when was the last time you actually stopped to appreciate the place? Dress up, look cute, and get your comfy shoes on. Visit the park, catch up with some friends, or try out that new restaurant you haven't had the chance to visit. If you already know every nook and corner, try to visit the places in the city where you have great memories. Go sightseeing but consider ditching your car. Take the bus and take the time to absorb everything around you. If you want, you can also rent a fancy car and drive around the city.
Also, consider a guided tour. Bring along your camera with you and start snapping photos. You will feel like a real tourist on their first time in a new city. You might even learn about your city's history and come to appreciate your surroundings even more. Don't hesitate to pamper yourself from head to toe. Get a whole-body massage from a spa or try a new hairstyle. While you're getting yourself pampered, hire someone else to clean your home for you. There is nothing better than coming to a clean and pristine home after a well-deserved vacation. Remember that you deserve to rest, de-stress and unwind every once in a while. If you take this for granted, you will have a hard time concentrating and staying productive in your job. It will be easier for your stress to affect your health and happiness. Luckily, you don't even need to go out of your city just so you can enjoy a short vacation.
