We are in the UK for a few days, before a little weekend way in Europe, so I get visit my old hometown of Manchester before moving onto London for the rest of the week
So a few lunch dates with family and friends is in order, and gives me the chance to check out the Manchester food scene (which changes all every time I visit)
Id been wanting to check out Menagerie for a while after seeing my friends photos of how super cute it looked. But being just on the outskirts of Manchester, its has the competition of all the other fabulous places to eat that are closer by
We managed to pop in a lunch reservation, but by all accounts its an entirely different place in the evenings with live entertainment in the form of dancers, aerial acrobats, singers, burlesque acts, and contortionists on a catwalk through the restaurant
But lets not kid ourselves, the real reason to go is for the photo opp. Menagerie is without a doubt the Norths most Instagram friendly restaurant
It is packed full of beautiful girly booths (even a gilded birdcage), pretty lighting and feature walls and floral details
We didn't try the cocktails, but hear they are pretty amazing
All the details are super cute... It really is a beautiful restaurant.
As can often be the case with this type of restaurant, we had anticipated style over content. So, it was pleasantly surprising when the food was really delicious.
We ordered a few of their small plates to share tapas style (you can take the girl out of Spain)
Caramelised Halloumi with Cauliflower puree, capers, toasted almonds and Duck Croquettes with Honey & truffle.
Chicken & Waffles with Maple Syrup... first time trying these and they were delicious
And the Spiced Lamb Meatballs served with Harissa, whipped yogurt.
And despite not being at all Hungry, we did order dessert
A total sugar overload, but you wouldn't expect anything less from a desert named "all of the fun at the fair"
It comes with frozen hot dogs (how cute) popcorn, candy floss and warm chocolate and marshmallow donuts.
For the food and sheer cuteness of Menagerie id definitely recommend stepping out of the center of Manchester for some whimsical delight
Belle xoxo
