When you are looking for things to do and see in Paris, Montmarte will undoubtedly be high on your search. Montmarte is another of my favourite neighbour hoods in Paris to stroll through. Its eclectic and Bohemian and full of 18th century charm. It is the best place to just get lost. Once you have seen the usual tourist attractions (which are just gorgeous, touristy or not) you can begin to take in the simpler aspects of the little village. And visiting in the winter means its less busy than usual. Total win, because you really can see it in all of its glory without having to fight your way through the hustle and bustle. We took a walk to Le Mur des je t'aime which translates to “The Wall Of Love” in English. They don't call Paris the city of Love for nothing... this work of art being just one example of why Paris is so Romantic. The wall is covered in “I love you’s” 311 times in 250 languages. And when you've walked and walked, reward yourself with a cafe creme and some beautiful views. We visited as part of my birthday celebrations, in around the third week in January and I was surprised that Paris was still decorated for Christmas! Especially Montmarte, literally in all of its Christmas glory. We walked to the Place du Tertre. The square is lined with 18th-century buildings with busy restaurants, cafes and crepe stands. Only at this time of year, they aren't quite so busy... For me the whole essence of the village culminates at Place du Tertre Montmartre. The usually packed street with colourful artist stalls, only has a handful of artists in the winter. The fact that its set within a picturesque cobblestone square only adds to its romantic vibe, its like an open-air art gallery bustling with locals and tourists. No matter how any times I see the Sacre Coeur it never get over how beautiful it is. I will never forgot when I first saw it and the impact it made on me. Which is your favourite area of Paris?
