Another of Sintra's marvels is Palácio da Pena. Set into the windey hills, the palace is what Disney dreams are made of. We chose to take the walk up the hills rather than the bus that takes you up, because it just felt like we would have missed so much. We were right. The walk into the forest just adds to the experience. And if nothing else, seeing the castle peeking out of the clouds on top of the mountain is an event all by itself With every step you feel like you discover more of these enchanting woods, like your being transported into a mythic land And when you do finally reach the palace, the impact it has upon you is incredible. It is unlike anything iv ever seen. Wrapped in cloud, when it finally becomes unveiled you see flashes of red and yellow with the odd turret sticking out the top. Inspired by the love of art and the mysticism of ancient cultures in the 19th century, its definitely something to see And that's before we even talk about the views. Worth every step up the hill. Another magical place that I am so grateful to have seen, I highly recommend popping Palácio da Pena if you are in Sintra
