Setenil was a big Spanish bucket list location for me, and i'm sure I don't need to tell you why once you see what a truly unique and magical place it is. We took the drive up on an unforgiving hot day... you'd think we would have learned by now! Thankfully, we went early in the morning so the full Spanish heat had not yet kicked in
I had high expectations of setenil after seeing it on pinterest, so when we arrived and I saw it for my own eyes I was surprised and delighted to see it was every bit as special as I had hoped
Named after its once flourishing wineries - bodegas - Setenil is one of the more unique among the pueblos blancos
The town grew out of a network of caves into the rocks and cliffs. It really is the most incredible place to see, like something out of lord of the rings. Almost other worldly
Its incredible to see that people have made this unique place their home. Its a fully functioning town with shops, cafes and restaurants.
We made our way through the windy little town, discovering more and more impressive views. I was so in awe of this incredibly interesting place. I doubt there is anywhere like setenil in the whole world.
Even better, its relatively (at least when we visited) tourist free. Its so lovely to see somewhere so unique without having to wade through hundreds of people and as a photographer, get some clean shots. Heaven
The locals are super friendly and helpful too. Bonus
If your visiting the Andalusian region of Spain (perfect if you spend a morning here and drive to nearby Ronda in the afternoon), I cant recommend a visit to Setenil more... you can thank me later
Belle Xx
